Shreveport | Bossier City | Louisiana | Intimate Wedding | Outdoor Wedding

This micro wedding in the woods was an absolute dream to photograph. The beautiful bride showed me along the Coates Bluff Nature Trail a few days before the wedding, and I immediately fell in love with her vision.

Michaela and Daniel decided to get married on the trail with a fallen tree as their altar, and the results were magical. While they added some beautiful touches of their own, they allowed God to do most of the decorating... posing for romantic shots under natural branch archways and letting the bride's gorgeous gown flow over the side of the tree.

With just a handful of close friends as witnesses (and one as the officiant!), Michaela and Daniel had the perfect ceremony to celebrate their love without all the extra bells and whistles. And I loved every minute of it! I would definitely recommend a day like this to any bride, it was simply lovely.

I will forever be grateful for the privilege of witnessing and capturing this intimate fairytale wedding.

If you're engaged and looking for an intimate wedding with the backdrop of nature, I'd love to capture your day, too!

Tips for a Louisiana Woodland Wedding or Elopement:

  1. Bug spray! Not as romantic of a scent as perfume, but you'll be thankful you used it. Michaela and Daniel also used mosquito repellents at the ceremony location. There are plenty of no-flame mosquito repellents you can order online.
  2. Comfy shoes! The bride and groom wore sneakers, which was not only practical, it also added to the laidback vibe of the day. I wore hiking boots so I could step wherever necessary to get the perfect angles!
  3. Go early! If you're getting married in the woods during the spring or summer (or let's be honest even some days in the fall) in Louisiana, it's best to go early in the day. This event took place at 10am, which was a great time of day. Anytime from 8-10 in the morning would be an ideal start time. The obvious reason being the temperature is not sky-high yet. BUT the morning lighting is also gorgeous. While golden hour is beautiful, there is something about a fresh morning glow shining through the trees that is breathtaking. Plus you won't have to worry about making it out of the woods before dark!
