The perfect Louisiana setting...
Lake Bistineau might be my new favorite spot for family photo sessions. It offers the perfect quintessential "Louisiana" backdrop, with ample room for little ones to run around and get their wiggles out. The ethereal trees growing out of the water are something out of a dream... no props or setups necessary. This gives families the opportunity to simply enjoy each other while highlighting the natural beauty of their surroundings.

The cypress trees and Spanish moss spanning from the water to the sky almost look surreal. Not to mention, this backdrop provides great opportunities for some photos of babies being held up to the sky or kids sitting on daddy's shoulders.
To become even more immersed among these stunning trees, this family featured here opted for some photos on the dock. There are plenty of docks to choose from at Lake Bistineau State Park, and from what I've seen there really is no wrong choice. They all bring the subjects even closer to the dreamy trees in the water (can you tell that I kinda love these?). The main factor to consider here is where the sun will be at that time.
Another option is laying out a light, neutral-colored blanket. This is perfect for snuggly family moments or for non-walkers to lay on when striking an adorable solo pose.
As you can see, it would be impossible to make this park look bad. Lake Bistineau is the perfect location for a family photoshoot, especially if you're going for Louisiana vibes!
P.S. Stay tuned for an upcoming maternity session at Lake Bistineau!
